This portrait was commissioned as an anniversary present for Jen and Jason – who just recently celebrated being married for one whole year. And while this is not a traditional wedding pose (where the bride and groom are looking out at the viewer), it definitely illustrates the fun-loving nature of the young couple.
I made a few changes from the original photograph. Initially, Jason’s jacket was extremely dark and looked almost solid black. I added some gentle ripples in the material and highlighted his jacket pocket and button hole to break up the dark mass. Also, the edge of the picture cut off right behind Jenn’s shoulder. I exercised some artistic license and created a larger veil to fold behind her form. The delicate translucent material is a nice contrast to the heavy dark material on her husband.
