Drawn on soft yellow paper, we see a thirsty dog stealing a crisp cool drink of water from a faucet. Eyes rolled back in delight, this parched canine is enjoying a quenching moment before he returns to playing.
This graphite pencil drawing was an experiment with texture. While i have drawn fur on many pet portraits, this was the first opportunity to draw flowing water interacting with an animal. I truly enjoyed the dynamic play of light reflecting on the water and the dog’s tongue, the sloppy dribbles of water sneaking out of the corners of the mouth, and the sense of eager movement in both canine and H2O.
